Gayà: "We have turned around many difficult situations before"
The captain speaks after the defeat in Seville
Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà, analysed the loss to Sevilla FC on LaLiga Matchday 5
The game
“It wasn’t to be. We competed better in the first half, but in the second, Sevilla gradually dominated us through set-pieces. When things weren't going our way, they managed to take the lead, and we couldn't find a response. That chance for Otorbi could have changed the game, but we lacked attacking play. In order to win, we need to improve in that area; we had discussed set-pieces before, yet in the end, they cost us once more.”
Turning the situation around
“It’s up to us to pull ourselves out of this; we’ve overcome difficult situations before, and we have to do it again. We’re five matchdays in, and the good thing is that there’s another game on Tuesday.”
Tuesday’s game against Deportivo Alavés
“We have to treat every game as if our lives depended on it. We must give our all; we represent a lot of people, and we have room for improvement.”
